Irving Heritage Society to present program on Peruvian Gold exhibit

The public is invited to join the Irving Heritage Society for a program on the Irving Arts Center’s upcoming exhibit Peruvian Gold: Ancient Treasures Unearthed. The program will be presented immediately following a brief general meeting of the Heritage Society in the meeting rooms of the Irving Arts Center, 3333 North MacArthur, at 7pm. Refreshments will be served and the program is free to attend.
This special exhibition is from National Geographic. It features one hundred rare ancient artifacts from Peru’s best museums and will be on display only at the National Geographic Museum in Washington, DC and the Irving Arts Center (Oct. 1-Dec. 31, 2014).
Ancient Peru is one of the six great world civilizations. For 4000 years before the Spanish discovery in the 15th century, Peru’s wealth and power were the greatest in the New World. Peruvian Gold is an exhibition that explores these extraordinary cultures and the archaeological history of Peru. The exhibition features dazzling ancient artifacts from 4000 BC up to the Inca Empire, including object that have never been exhibited in the U.S. before.
